1 Person is Looking At This!

Why writers pay $24 for this notebook

Zero bleed-through, zero feathering — the MD Paper was engineered in the 1960s specifically for fountain pens. Ink stays crisp on both sides of every page.

Opens completely flat — thread-stitched binding means no fighting the spine. Write edge-to-edge across a full spread without the book curling closed.

Soft cream paper, gentle on the eyes — 70g ivory-toned MD Paper is thick enough to resist ghosting, light enough to keep the notebook slim.

65+ years of refinement — Midori has applied Kaizen to MD Paper since its launch in 1960. Every batch is better than the last.

Beautiful alone, stunning as a gift — the minimalist cover and clean aesthetic make this a notebook people display on their desk rather than hide in a drawer.

Description

A notebook designed to disappear so your thinking can appear

The Midori MD Notebook was born from a simple conviction: paper should never get in the way of writing. Since 1950, Midori's craftspeople in Japan have been refining MD Paper until it reached something close to perfection — a surface that holds fountain pen ink without feathering, takes pencil with just enough tooth, and stays bright without glare.

The A5 dotted grid is the workhorse of the line. Big enough to think freely, small enough to carry everywhere. The dots are pale enough that they disappear in a photograph but visible enough to guide a straight line. The pages are cream — not white — because Midori knew warm paper reduces eye strain during long writing sessions.

What you'll notice first is how the notebook opens. The thread-stitched binding allows every page to lie completely flat, which sounds like a minor detail until you've spent years fighting spiral notebooks and cheap glue-bound journals that snap shut mid-sentence.

The cover tells you everything about the brand's values. It's simple. No logo on the spine. No decoration on the front — just a tiny text block listing the size and ruling. Midori doesn't need to shout. After 70 years, the paper speaks for itself.
