Smiley face nib — the clear Kakuno's nib has a little face sticking its tongue out, and it shows you which way is up.

Extra fine line — the thinnest Kakuno nib, great for small handwriting and planners.

See your ink — the clear barrel lets you check how much ink is left at a glance.

Won't roll away — the hexagonal barrel stays put on your desk, just like a pencil.

Description

A see-through Kakuno with Pilot's finest nib

The Pilot Kakuno is one of the friendliest first fountain pens out there, and it's just as fun once you're hooked. This is the clear version, so you can see the cartridge and ink inside, and it has an extra fine nib, the thinnest line in the Kakuno range.

The stainless steel nib is on the firm side, so it handles a heavier hand without fuss. It also has a little smiley face on it, and on the clear Kakuno the face is sticking its tongue out. When it's smiling up at you, you're holding the pen the right way. The barrel is hexagonal like a pencil, so it doesn't roll around on your desk, and the gently triangular grip guides your fingers into place.

It takes Pilot ink cartridges (one comes in the box), or you can add a Pilot CON-40 or CON-70N converter for bottled ink. The extra fine nib is a great match for small handwriting, planners and narrow notebook rulings.
